My very first design!
This is a crochet summer hat with a knit band. It’s designed in three lengths for slouchiness.
I recommend using cotton for the closest match to the lengths in the pattern. My test run in wool came out quite a bit shorter.

I am looking forward to making these as Christmas gifts! Thanks for the FREE pattern. Made my day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pattern! Tried it out but got the gauge all wrong, for some reason I decided to try it with an H hook. Oops! Always time for a retry. Can't wait to get it right!
ReplyDeleteI loved the hat so much until I saw the word knit. I can crochet, but knitting is something I've never been able to do. Just my luck. Great work.......:)
ReplyDeleteI cant figure this part out, HELP.
ReplyDeleteSize M and L only:
Place hook under first ch sp, pull through 1 sl st, place hook over first ch sp, pull through 1 sl st, place hook under first ch sp again, pull through 1 sl st. This moves the beginning of the round to the middle of the first ch sp.
Hi Nicky, sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I need to do some switching so the blog lets me know when I have comments.
ReplyDeleteWith these instructions, you're pretty much working two slip stitches into the first square of the mesh so that when you chain and start the next round, you get the mesh in the pictures rather than perfectly stacked boxes.
Sorry for the delay!
